Vision Statement Of FTS

The passion and purpose of FTS is to faithfully reach, teach and send people as disciples of Jesus Christ, now and in the generations to come.

FTS desires to make disciples of Jesus Christ and bring forth holistic restoration and transformation of Malawi, Africa and the rest of the World.

Mission Statement Of FTS

FTS mission is to reach out, to teach and to enable vulnerable people in all communities and from different walks of life, to come into a close relationship with God and to become whole in Christ.

History Of FTS

From 1995 till 2003:

Under the name of Hospital Christian Fellowship of Nkhoma Hospital outreaches were done under the leadership of Louise Laubscher in various communities as far as Karonga and Nkhata Bay in the Northern region and as far south as Chikwawa in the Southern Region.

Through these outreaches a close relationship was formed with Life Ministry as early as 1995 and we are still showing the Jesus film.

Louise Laubscher and the Nkhoma Hospital HCF outreach team invited on several occasions students of Nkhoma Theological college as well as students from African Bible College to go with them on outreaches. This resulted in many outreaches within Malawi as well as within Mozambique - near Vila Ulongwe.

It also led to long term relationship between FTS ministries with leaders of churches from various communities till date.

The Nkhoma Hospital HCF outreach team existed mainly out of medical staff, secondary school teachers and students.

Since 1995 God put a team together who is a very committed and compassionate for those in the remote areas of Malawi, but especially in reaching out to the children in these areas, we knew that there is no way to serve a child effective if we do not provide a community approach ministry.

The team further realized that there are many churches, but many members do know very little of the World of God. That led to the focus of providing Discipleship Training which were commenced in 1997.

From 2003 till 2007:

FTS (Fishers, Trainers and Senders) Ministries was founded in 2003.

In 2003 a core team of the Nkhoma HCF outreach team met at the Lake near Salima and spent time studying Luke 5 verses 4 to 7. The interpretation and revelation of these scriptures led to the establishing of the name of an organization now known as Fishers, Trainers and Senders Ministries.

Luk 5:4  When he finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Push the boat out further to the deep water, and you and your partners let down your nets for a catch."

Luk 5:5  "Master," Simon answered, "we worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I will let down the nets."

Luk 5:6  They let them down and caught such a large number of fish that the nets were about to break.

Luk 5:7  So they motioned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came and filled both boats so full of fish that the boats were about to sink.

Meaning Of Mukani:

Mark 16:15  Ndipo adanena nawo, Mukani ku dziko lonse lapansi, lalikirani  Uthenga Wabwino kwa wolengedwa onse.

Mar 16:15  He said to them, "Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to all people

First Board members:

The first Board meeting took place on 18th October 2005 and the Board members were medical friends, who were associated with us through the Hospital Christian Fellowship, for example Lester Chikoya, Anina Louw, Rev. Ephraim Mathyoka and Mphatso (myself).

We met Harrison Chimyama during our outreach programs in Nkhotakota. Tracey Lamont was a lecturer at the Theological college at Nkhoma Mission.

After the first Board members, other came also to take over from some of those who left. They were Grafiud Tione, Ellen Chizimba-Illande , Daniel Chibwana, Chrissie Mbewe, Bishop Eugene Chinunga and Harrison Chinyama.

Registration of FTS Ministries and land procurement:

It is an inter-denominational, Malawi founded organization serving rural communities on national level.

The property of FTS Ministries, known as Mukani, was procured in 2004. It is near Six miles, in Area 38, Lilongwe. This is where the Head Quarters of FTS ministries are.

The processes of registration took long and we were only fully registered by December 2007.

As our logo is showing two boats with a cross, it is reflecting also what we understood that there is no one organization, or one church or one group of people who can do all the work in a community or country, etc. No, we were clearly led to network to bring in the fish, just like Luke 5 is explaining.

Therefore, we received Godly designed connections with the following groups over the years:

  1. Healthcare Christian Fellowship,
  2. Life Ministry (the local branch of Campus Crusade)
  3. Good News Media and Global Recording network Southern Africa
  4. FCE – Foundation for Christ-centered education
  5. Petra College
  6. Miqlat
  7. Neighbour Missions under Nkhoma Synod.
  8. Y-Malawi (World Vision, Opportunity International Bank of Malawi, World Relief, Chiefs Ministry, Nkhoma Youth and Nkhoma Hospital
  9. Zikomo Yesu Ministry
  10. Chazuka school project
  11. E3-Initiative

We became a member of EAM (Evangelical Association of Malawi) in 2005.

Through each of our formal partners and those that we did networking with, we learned so much and each of you present or not present today made a huge impact in the organization that we are today.

Various churches within the 16 out of 28 districts where FTS Ministries did outreaches and training programs opened their doors to us and we had the opportunity to train and equip several members of churches over the 3 regions of Malawi.

THE BUILDING OF A TEAM was always a priority. Because we can only give what we have!

From 2004 till date several FTS volunteers and staff went through training programs. For example:

  1. Dream team, Paarl, RSA: Aphinoce Chibwana, Chikumbutso Lunda, Cecilia Mazengereza and Stanley Nkhata – 1 year training
